Ramset's I-F - Fast, Superior Thermal Barrier Fastening

Ramset IF Tool

Installing thermal barriers on any surface can be a pain. You've got adhesive that takes ages to set up when you have better things to do. Metal fasteners get the job done more quickly, but create a source for thermal transfer, lowering energy efficiency. What can you do to get the job done quickly and correctly without a lot of fuss and bother? The innovative folks at Ramset have a great solution:

The Ramset I-F system directly fastens your thermal barrier insulation to concrete walls, hollow block or steel studs with ease. Because they work so quickly, it can save you days compared to more traditional methods of fastening insulation to walls, allowing your crew to get work done more quickly and more profitably. In a single step, you can install the fasteners, while fastening them four times more quickly than traditional stick pin fasteners. What's more, they come with a cap attached that can be simply bent over into place to provide additional thermal efficiency without compromising the faster's ability to hold the insulation in place effectively.

Ramset IF In Use

The applicator can be used easily around sprinkler systems and pipes, helping your crew avoid the awkward angles and potential damage that could be caused in these areas. They can be used in any temperature and damp surfaces, unlike stick pins that can not be installed under cold or damp conditions. It also has features designed to lower operator fatigue, allowing your crew to work longer and with fewer breaks, while the adjustable power settings allow you to compensate for a wide range of materials. Powered using Ramset's T3 fuel, you can place 1,000 fasteners on a single fuel cell, minimizing your down time when you're on the job.

The fasteners themselves are 1" to 6" long, giving you a wide range of sizes to work with. They feature a sharp point to ensure they'll pass easily through most insulation materials without causing excessive damage to the insulation itself. They have a 99.5% thermal transference efficiency rate as they provide an air bubble between the fastener and uninsulated space. Ramset IF In UseThe flanges minimize insulation compression that can reduce R value while providing superior strength to keep the insulation in place with up to an estimated 211 pounds of tension capacity. They also greatly reduce the shifting that often happens when fastening insulation in place by creating a cross section rather than a round hole in the insulation. The 2" steel pin has a spiral design that helps it securely hold to not only exterior gypsum board but through that layer to your exterior steel studs for a firm hold. Created from heat treated carbon steel, the spiral pins have been mechanically coated with zinc to provide superior corrosion resistance for years to come. And unlike actuated fasteners, it doesn't blow out a spall in hollow block, it just fastens to even the hardest concrete. It creates a clean look that delivers consistent thermal performance along the entire system.

This system is designed to work well with expanded and extruded polystyrene and rock wool or fiberglass insulation and can be fastened to poured concrete, hollow block or steel studs, providing superior grip through the spiral shank steel pin. If you're going to take the time to super insulate a building or add insulation as a retrofit, at least make sure you're using fasteners that don't diminish your returns through thermal transference. Stick pin fasteners can decrease overall wall system efficiency by as much as 10%, while the I-F fasteners provide an easily sealed attachment that has virtually no thermal transference loss thorough the system.

As you can see, Ramset's new I-F fastener system takes care of many of the issues involved in thermal barrier installation quickly and effectively. If you want to check out the I-F system or have further questions, please feel free to contact us today. Our experienced associates are happy to help you find the right solution to your job site needs.
